The genealogists listed here are independent professionals whom we trust and respect for their expertise and experience. Each brings a unique research focus, and many have spent years working in the field. Several maintain their own websites that offer valuable resources, particularly for African American genealogy. While they are not part of our organization, we believe genealogy often requires exploring many paths, and our goal is to connect visitors with a broad range of reliable resources to support and deepen their research.

BlackGenealogists.com can help you with everything from basic genealogy research to complex investigations. Many of our genealogists have been conducting professional reserch for 20 years or more and are experts in their fields. African Ancestry.org will thoroughly review your needs and ensure that their expertise will give you the best results for you project. If you would like DNA analysis to combine with your family history, we can work with our DNA partners to offer you a comprehensive genealogy experience blending your DNA results with historical records.

The cost of our services varies depending on the scope of the project, and type of research required. For example a four generation project on one side of your family will cost less than a 4-gen project on both sides. Likewise, a six-generation project will might require travel, for document retrieval for records that are not online which would add to your cost. Please contact us for a quote and we will review all of the variences with you.

Once we finalize your project you will receive a personalized summary booklet detailing  information we have located about your ancestors and copies of documents that we used to document our findings. Your booklet will include family tree chart documenting the generations that we have found for you.

Each project is different. Some can be done very quickly in a matter of a few weeks. Others may take several months. After our consultation we will have a better idea of the amount of hours it will take and we will relay that information to you. You will then have the opportunity to decide if you would like to add to your project or scale back on it. Remember that it is perfectly fine to start with a few generations and expand your research when you are ready. 

Prior to our consultation with you we will ask you to fill our our form so that we will have background information telling us how much information you already have on your family and what your goals are for your project. Once we have that information we can generate a plan and a quote for you and give you better understanding of the time frame will need.
